Member Biography

As Vice President of International Trade, Zak Karamally oversees and directs ACS’ worldwide international trade compliance program. His responsibilities include trade and compliance policy development and implementation, regulatory interpretation and translation into compliance programs, internal education and awareness, and the global coordination and execution of export and import regulatory compliance. Zak joined ACS in March 2006. Prior to joining ACS, he was Director, International Trade & Compliance at Texas Instruments. At TI, he served in various capacities in managing TI’s international trade activities. He also served as manager of strategy development for worldwide procurement and logistics before becoming director of international trade and compliance. He was chairman of the Semiconductor Logistics Forum in 1997 (a Sematech affiliate), representing TI in that capacity, and a member of the Supply Chain Forum at the Eli Broad School of Management at Michigan State University. He represented the industry position in the US Department of Commerce’s committee for developing the new special comprehensive licensing program in 1994. And, he has been a long-standing member of the President’s Export Council Subcommittee on Export Administration (PECSEA) since 1999 – appointed by the Secretary of Commerce. He was reappointed to serve on this committee in 2003. In addition, he has been recently appointed to the North Texas District Export Council. Zak has an MA in International Relations from Tufts University’s Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, an MA in International Management Studies from the University of Texas and a BA in Economics from the University of North Texas. He is the author of a book on export management, called Export Savvy, published by the Haworth Press in 1998. He has been an adjunct professor of international business and trade at the University of Texas at Dallas, a contributing editor of Export Today and Latin American Law & Business Report and served on the Richland College International Business & Trade Advisory Committee, the International Committee of the Metroplex Technology Business Council and is a member of the Export Roundtable at the International Small Business Development Center in Dallas.
