Member Biography
Ruben E. Esquivel is Vice President for Community and Corporate Relations of The University of
Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas, a position he has held since 1995. Mr. Esquivel’s career began as an assembler with AVO International Inc, a world wide provider of test and measurement equipment for electrical power applications. His work at AVO culminated in being named President and CEO of the company in 1985. During his tenure as CEO, the manufacturing business experienced significant growth through product exports, research and development, and the acquisitions of domestic and foreign operations. He serves on the Board of Directors of ATMOS Energy Corporation. He has served as Chairman of the North Texas Commission, the Texas Guaranteed Student Loan Corporation (appointed by Governor Bush and reappointed by Governor Perry), Parkland Memorial Hospital,
The Dallas Foundation, and as President of the DeSoto Independent School District. Mr. Esquivel currently serves as Chairman of The State Fair of Texas, Director of the AT&T Performing Arts Center and the Dallas County Community College Foundation, among others.
